IP Fun Day Guidelines

Game times

To allow time to switch teams, shake hands and for trophy presentations, we will run 42 minute game times. An automatic buzzer will be set for 2 minutes for line changes.

Game rules

One coach per team will be required on the ice during the game. To keep the game going, we will only have faceoffs at center ice following a line change. Following a goal, teams will simply retreat to the red line and allow the opposing team to carry the puck up ice. Goalie equipment is highly recommended for the 2nd year kids, optional for the 1st year kids. Please note that although you are free to change goalies during the game, the clock will be running as we do not have time to wait for equipment changes on the ice.

Fair play

Although the scoreboard will read 0-0 for the entire day, I would like to ask the coaches on the ice to try and keep the score respectable. An occasional poke check or pass to the opposition can help the score from getting out of hand and keep the game fun for both teams. Some other ideas I have seen in the past include allowing one team to ice 6 or 7 skaters, or telling your team the goals will only count if they are scored with a backhand shot. Whatever it takes, I do not want to see any teams winning 40-0.
